An event about Tsunami

In 2004, when there was a terrible tsunami in the Indian Ocean, a 10-year-old girl, Tilly Smith, went to Thailand with her family for a vacation. She and her family were at Phuket beach when she suddenly saw that the water level on the beach was decreasing. She remembered how her teacher had told her in the geography class at school that when a tsunami comes, how the sea behaves.

She told this to her parents. There was a Marriott Hotel there. She told the staff there and the entire beach was evacuated.

A few minutes after the evacuation, a terrible tsunami wave came. And this was the 2004 tsunami that caused such devastation in so many cities. Phuket beach was the only beach where no one lost their life nor did anyone get a serious injury.

This teaches us to always keep the warning signs of tsunamis in mind. If the water on the beach is moving too much backwards, and if you hear a roaring sound like an aeroplane passing by, both of these mean that a tsunami can come at any time. And remember one more thing, the first tsunami wave is not usually the biggest.

If you see a very big wave, remember that bigger waves can follow it.
