Muscle Confusion actually helps in muscle growth!

In the field of fitness, there are a lot of terms which have meaning and generally they are based on pseudoscience or self-made concepts. And these terms confuse a lot of people. One such classic term which you have been hearing for a long time is what we call muscle confusion.

This particular term was introduced in the early 2000s when programs like P90X were introduced. This term was introduced from there which is majorly a marketing term.

Also, if we talk about old school bodybuilding then a similar concept was used there which we call shocking your muscle. At that time, when this concept was promoted or marketed then it was said that your muscles adapt to a particular stress or stimulus after some time. So, if you add more variety of exercises in your workouts and constantly switch your workouts then your muscles will get confused due to which they will get a shock through the new workout and they will grow. Actually it does happen scientifically.

When we talk about workouts in terms of motivation. For example, if you are a normal fitness enthusiast who does not have any specific aim or goal for anything then also muscles grows with confusion created in them in performing different types of workouts every day.

Because it motivates them. And it can be proved experimentally

that when we talk about motivation and constantly switching workouts change does happens. When we talk about proper goal-oriented, aim-oriented, planned training then there is a big role as muscle confusion.

In fact, many coaches have made a very good term for this.

Training Attention Deficit Disorder actually goes off if you perform workout with proper plan and goal orientation. Reason is you are confusing your muscles not yourself for growth and betterment.

So, without planning people either stick to the same plan everyday or change their workouts haphazardly. This both factors will have affect on muscle confusion thus on muscles growth.

If your goal is strength gain, muscle hypertrophy, increasing power or increasing some other aspect then it is very important for your workout to be planned in a progressive way. Apart from that, there is no feasible way that you will ever get proper results. And for that, it is very important for you to do repetitive and variable exercises so that you can assess how you are progressing in those exercises for muscle growth and hypertrophy.

Whatever stimulus you give to muscles or whatever stress you give them, they will respond to that. But muscle response is not like human response. Muscles respond when the array of stimulus impulses given to them changes suddenly with variable activities imposed to them. I mean, they respond or activate on change and stop (plateau) when things always seem the same. So you can say, they sparkle when changes is been imposed to them same like an electric circuit. So stimulus in muscles is a pure science. Muscles get stimulus when changing patterns of stress is imposed to them. But humans respond normally.

There will come a time when you will hit a plateau in the workout. At that time, you can definitely change the exercise selection and programming.
